New Vice-Chairman for NOAH
David Thatcher from Pharmacia and Upjohn has become the new vice-chairman of the
National Office of Animal Health.
Mr Thatcher, who has been a member of the NOAH Board since 1996, is the regional
director, UK and Ireland, of Crawley-based Pharmacia and Upjohn Animal Health.
He joined Upjohn in 1965 and has wide experience in the animal health field. He began
his professional life in as a salesman in Somerset, became involved with marketing and
then was appointed Great Britain general manager for the company in 1994. In 1995 he
gained the additional responsibility of Ireland, and was appointed regional director.
NOAH's new chairman is Bill Hird from Elanco Animal Health. He was previously
vice-chairman and has chaired NOAH's Public Affairs Committee for the past two years.
John Powell, Bob Martin Company remains the association's treasurer. Peter Richards,
Hoechst Roussel Vet Ltd, and NOAH's 1997-98 chairman, becomes past-chairman.

companies which research, develop, manufacture and market licensed animal health products.
The association now represents 53 companies which in
1997 accounted for around 95% of the £379 million UK animal health market, with
additional valuable exports.
