New chief executive for NOAHPhilip Sketchley has been appointed as the new chief executive of the National Office of Animal Health. He will join the association in mid November from veterinary wholesaler Centaur Services Limited, working alongside current director Roger Cook until the New Year, when he takes up the reins. Mr Cook will remain as advisor until the end of March, when he retires. Mr Sketchley, originally from Nottinghamshire, has a degree in Biochemistry and Physiology from London University. He brings to NOAH a wealth of experience from 28 years in the human pharmaceutical and animal medicine industries. Currently sales and marketing manager at Centaur, he was previously national sales manager at Fort Dodge Animal Health following its acquisition of and merger with Duphar Veterinary, having held the position of sales and marketing manager at Willows Francis Veterinary before the two companies merged. From 1987 to 1992 he was with Coopers Pitman-Moore (and its predecessor Glaxovet/Pitman Moore) variously as national sales manager for veterinary pharmaceuticals and pet care, and senior brand manager of one of their strategic business units. After graduating in 1973, he was with Leo Laboratories until 1987, in the human pharmaceutical and veterinary divisions. This is not Mr Sketchley's first experience of NOAH. He was a member of the NOAH Companion Animal Sub-Committee for 6 years, chairing it for 4. "The animal health industry is now going through a period of change, which seems to be accelerating rapidly. This will need NOAH and the members it represents to call on, and further enhance, their relationships with other associations and organisations involved in every facet of the animal health market. This will mean challenging times ahead. I am really looking forward to working with the team at NOAH in the near future."
