The fish section of NOAH’s Pet Health Information website
has had a big rewrite, to make it much more useful to keepers – and
potential keepers – of fish, from fresh water to marine and cold water to
tropical.
NOAH has drawn on the services of an expert fish
veterinarian and marine biologist to give more detailed advice on
buying and caring
for a fish, on fish health and to answer some common questions from fish
keepers. These include
how to calculate the amount of water in a pond or tank,
what causes cloudy water and
how many fish can live happily together.
The site,
www.pethealthinfo.org.uk, was launched last summer as part of NOAH’s
campaign to raise awareness of the importance of animal health and welfare
considerations amongst pet owners and potential owners, and to help enable
them to make informed decisions about their pets’ healthcare.
NOAH chief executive Phil Sketchley says: “We want to
keep the site as helpful as possible and would welcome any comments about
the advice we give – and any questions or topics you feel it would be
helpful for us to address – on fish or for other companion animal species.”
There is a free poster which pet shop owners can claim
from NOAH to display to point their clients to the PHI site, while the site
itself encourages owners to seek advice from pet care specialists.
