2008 TOP NOAH SALES REP STUDENTS ANNOUNCED

The names of the three top students from NOAH member companies who sat the Animal Medicines Training Regulatory Authority (AMTRA) examinations for sales representatives of marketing authorisation holders during 2008 were unveiled at the National Office of Animal Health (NOAH) annual dinner held at One Whitehall Place, London, on April 22nd.

The overall winner was Caroline Brockington of Merial Animal Health, while Gregory Allin of Elanco was runner up with David Roberts of Pfizer in 3rd.

Earlier the 12 top students of the year(1), two from each of the six AMTRA Marketing Authorisation Holders’ (MAH) examinations, had been rewarded by AMTRA chairman Bob Stevenson with a certificate for their hard work.

NOAH sponsors prizes for the highest scoring entrants in the AMTRA MAH Examination. The sponsorship is evidence of NOAH’s ongoing commitment to industry self-regulation and the need for all manufacturers’ representatives to pass the examination, ensuring only the best advice is given to prescribers, suppliers and users of animal medicines.

NOAH chairman Howard Wilder, said, “Tonight’s award winners are emblematic of our industry’s determination to successfully self-regulate and maintain the very highest standards of knowledge and professionalism across all areas of animal medicine distribution. We are delighted to sponsor these prizes.”

He explained: “The representatives from NOAH member companies that visit veterinary practices, animal health merchants’, the increasing number of professional pet shops – wherever company representatives go – will be studying for or will have gained an AMTRA Marketing Authorisation Holder’s certificate, irrespective of their previous background. This qualification gives a grounding across the spectrum of animal medicines topics, and covers some topics, details of legislation for instance, that may not even be covered while studying for a veterinary degree.

“So our members’ reps are qualified and knowledgeable. But NOAH is not resting on its laurels. We are working with AMTRA to ensure we keep the qualification under review to ensure it remains truly fit for purpose,” he said.
