NOAH Silver Anniversary Dinner awards for top MAH students

The top students from the 2010 Marketing Authorisations Holders’ certificate examinations received their awards last night (14th April 2011) at The Savoy hotel in London, at a dinner to celebrate the Silver Anniversary of the National Office of Animal Health (NOAH).

The awards were presented by Professor Steve Dean, Chief Executive of the Veterinary Medicines Directorate, who congratulated the students on their achievements.

The top student from the May 2010 exam was James Tennant, a lecturer at North Hertfordshire College, while the month’s runner-up was Alison Pickering, from Abbot Animal Health. The top student from a second May sitting of the certificate was Kate Mogg, of Novartis Animal Health, and the runner-up for that month was Julie Bigford, also of Novartis. July’s top student was Elizabeth Barrett, of Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, and the runner-up was Rhona Holland of Pfizer. The top student for September was Sarah Payne of Protexin Veterinary, and runner-up was Kim Cook of Genitrix Animal Health.

NOAH awarded prizes for the highest scoring entrants overall in the 2010 examinations, with a first prize of £100 going to James Tennant, second prize of £75 to Sarah Payne, and third prize of £50 to Elizabeth Barrett.

The certificate was previously known as the AMTRA MAH certificate, but from January 2011 has been rebranded as the NOAH Certificate of Animal Health (NCAH), with the administration and development of the qualification now being done by NOAH itself.

This recognises NOAH’s ongoing commitment to ensure responsible self-regulation for the animal health industry, and the need for manufacturers representatives to pass the examination, in order to give the best possible advice to prescribers, suppliers and users of animal medicines.

NOAH Chief Executive Phil Sketchley, said, “We are celebrating 25 years of NOAH’s achievements in the animal health industry, and it is gratifying to see such the high quality of people who are coming through the industry and maintaining the very best standards of knowledge and professionalism.”

“These awards show that the animal health industry is continuing to attract talented people from a variety of professional backgrounds, who can all benefit from the certificate,” he said.
