Bedlington Terrier Archie beats competition nationwide with ‘Spring in his step’

Latest competition winner takes his place among 2,000-strong gallery of Happy, Healthy pets

Spring-loving pet, Archie the Bedlington Terrier from Gloucester has scooped top prize for the National Office of Animal Health’s (NOAH) latest competition ‘spring in their step’. Archie was singled out from hundreds of entries by guest judge Sarah Wright, Editor of Your Dog, for embodying the joy of the new season.

The competition is part of NOAH’s ‘I Heart My Pet’ campaign, designed to provide independent, expert advice on pet healthcare to owners across the UK. As part of the campaign, last year NOAH launched the Happy Healthy Pets Project – which aims to build the biggest picture of happy, healthy pets across the UK via an online gallery. The gallery now stands at around 2,000 fantastic images of much-loved pets from all over the UK, making it the biggest of its kind and helping put owners in the picture when it comes to pet health by directing them to independent, expert advice on

Archie’s proud owner Paul Hooper of Churchdown, Gloucestershire:

‘’Its awesome news to hear that Archie has won the competition! We’ve had Archie for almost eight years now and he’s a big part of the family. Archie has been raised in the country so he adores springtime. I know this as he joins me regularly for a run around whilst I do my gardening work. We keep him happy & healthy by feeding him an all-natural diet and by making sure we take regular visits to the vet. I also have to give Archie credit for keeping myself and the family healthy, with up to 4 walks a day. I’m also an enthusiastic mountain walker and he absolutely adores long country walks so it’s a perfect match!”

NOAH Chief Executive, Dawn Howard comments:

“Just like the entrants to our competition, the pictures have given us a real spring in our steps! It’s fantastic to see such joy and energy shining through from the hundreds of entries we received, all of whom embody the happy, healthy pet mentality and whose owners are clearly taking their healthcare needs seriously.  The competition was designed to highlight the importance of pet healthcare as a whole, encouraging owners to seek independent, expert pet healthcare advice at all times and once again, it’s been heartening to see just how seriously UK pet owners take the health of their pets through the stories they’ve told us and the images they’ve shared.”

Your Dog Editor, Sarah Wright who helped judge the entries comments:

“Archie really does have a spring in his step; his pictures perfectly capture the joy and enthusiasm of a happy, healthy pet enjoying the springtime in the great outdoors.”
