Blossom the chicken from Milton Keynes and 10-year-old Aimee Doe named the nation’s best pet friends!
After searching for Britain’s best pet friends as part of its ‘I Heart My Pet’ campaign, the National Office of Animal Health (NOAH) is pleased to announce they’ve found it in Blossom, a chicken from Milton Keynes, and 10-year-old Aimee Doe.
Blossom and Aimee’s friendship caught NOAH’s attention during the competition, which ran as part of the association’s Happy, Healthy Pets Project — an online gallery aiming to build the UK’s largest ever picture of pet health. Their friendship beat hundreds of other entries from proud pet owners across the nation by helping to prove that when it comes to happy and healthy pets, strong relationships are key.
Blossom’s proud owner, and mother of Aimee, Lynn Doe of Milton Keynes says:
“I am so excited to hear that Blossom won the competition and she will be clucking with happiness to hear this. Blossom also has two sisters called Rose and Lilly and since I entered this competition we have also had three more additions to the family, Daisy, Buttercup and Bluebell.”
NOAH Chief Executive, Dawn Howard comments:
“We have been so pleased with the participation in our “Best Friends” competition. We are deeply moved to see the profound nature of pet relationships in the UK and just how happy and healthy they all are. The competition was designed to highlight the importance of pet friendships and pet healthcare as a whole, encouraging owners to seek independent, expert pet healthcare advice at all times.”
NOAH’s Happy, Healthy Pets guest judge and ambassador for Medical Detection Dogs, Gemma Faulkner, aged 11, who herself has a close bond with her medical detection dog, Polo, says:
“I love how Aimee has a wonderful connection with Blossom. It just goes to show every animal has the potential to be your “best friend”. Polo, my medical detection dog, is such a caring animal, he brings a smile to my face every day and he saves my life too! I have had diabetes for 10 years now, but the last three years with my best friend Polo have been incredible! I have done things outside of my comfort zone and I have enjoyed every bit.”
