A charity day that was truly worth braying about!

Lucy Coyne, Senior Technical Policy Manager, shares her experience volunteering at a charity day to raise money for the Scouts Association at Walesby Forest.
I recently had the pleasure of volunteering at a charity day to raise money for the Scouts Association at Walesby Forest. Walesby Forest is an amazing 30 acre wooded camping ground that provides a safe environment for learning, development and outdoor fun. The event was all about giving children the opportunity to spend time outdoors, enjoy new experiences and meet animals in a safe and friendly environment.
I was lucky to be the guardian of my donkey’s friends Marble and Murray for the day. The pair quickly became the stars of the event, attracting lots of attention from excited children eager to stroke, feed and spend time with them. It was wonderful to watch the children grow in confidence as they interacted with the animals, especially those who were nervous at first.
The atmosphere throughout the day was fantastic, filled with laughter, smiles and plenty of memorable moments. Events like this are so important because they allow children to connect with nature, learn about animals and create positive experiences they will remember for years to come.

t was a truly rewarding experience, and it was amazing to see the joy that Marble and Murray brought to everyone they met. The donkeys also thoroughly enjoyed a day of treats and being admired by everybody who met them! A big thank you to all the volunteers and organisers who helped make the day such a success.
