Breach of NOAH Code of Practice for the Promotion of Animal Medicines by Zoetis UK

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Zoetis UK Found in Breach of NOAH Code of Practice for the Promotion of Animal Medicines

The NOAH Code of Practice Committee convened in June 2026 to assess a complaint under the provisions of the NOAH Code of Practice for the Promotion of Animal Medicines for Case 306/06/26.

The complaint was brought against Zoetis UK as a result of their representatives making false statements and disparaging comparisons in relation to Zenrelia®, an oral medication used to control itching and inflammation in dogs.

After thorough review, the Committee determined that any claim that a treatment break from Zenrelia® is required prior to vaccination is not supported by the UK Summary of Product Characteristics (SPC) for  Zenrelia® and therefore the statements constitute a breach of the Code meaning  that the promotional activity by Zoetis UK representatives breached Clauses 4.3 (iii), 4.4 (i), 4.4 (ii), 4.4 (iv), and 11.2. No breach of Clauses 3.1 or 4.3 (iv) was found.

In addition, the Committee considered four written reports alleging disparaging statements by Zoetis UK representatives about the safety of Zenrelia®. Three of the reports were found to be proven, while one could not be substantiated due to insufficient detail. The Committee concluded that the proven activities breached Clauses 4.3 (iii), 4.3 (iv), 4.4 (vii), and 11.2 of the Code, with no breach of Clause 3.1 established. NOAH remains committed to maintaining high standards in the promotion of animal medicines. The Code of Practice for the Promotion of Animal Medicines is a cornerstone of industry self-regulation, and NOAH member companies voluntarily adhere to its provisions to maintain public and professional trust.

A summary of the case and a signed Undertaking from Zoetis UK will be published on the NOAH website in accordance with the Code’s transparency requirements.
