NOAH Welcomes Appointment of New Members to the UK Trade and Agriculture Commission

NOAH (National Office of Animal Health) warmly welcomes the recent appointment of new members to the UK Trade and Agriculture Commission (TAC). The TAC is an independent expert committee supported by a Secretariat within the Department for Business and Trade (DBT).

The Commission provides independent, expert advice on the impact of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) on the UK’s statutory protections related to animal and plant life or health, animal welfare, and environmental standards. The Commission’s advice informs the government’s report to Parliament, aiding in the thorough examination of trade agreements.

As a leading voice in the animal health sector, NOAH is pleased to see such experienced and knowledgeable individuals join the Commission. The members are drawn from across the food production, veterinary, animal welfare, environment and international trade policy sectors.

Dawn Howard, Chief Executive of NOAH, said: “We are delighted to welcome the new members to the UK Trade and Agriculture Commission. Their combined expertise will strengthen the Commission’s ability to evaluate and scrutinise trade agreements that are vital for the long-term health of the UK’s farming sector, animal welfare and consumer confidence. The work of the Commission is more important than ever as the UK navigates its post-Brexit trade relationships, and we look forward to working closely with the newly appointed Commission to ensure that animal health and welfare are always at the forefront of trade discussions.”

The appointments to the UK Trade and Agriculture Commission come at a critical time, with global trade negotiations continuing to evolve, and NOAH looks forward to engaging with the Commission on the ongoing challenges and opportunities within the animal health sector.
