NOAH seeks new independent members for Code of Practice Committee
11th April 2018
NOAH is seeking two new independent members to join the NOAH Code of Practice Committee.
Marketing animal health products is a key factor in spreading information about the benefits of their use. There are special requirements covering advertising of veterinary medicines in the law, the UK Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013. In addition to the legal requirements, this industry Code of Practice is obligatory on all NOAH members and has also been endorsed by several non-member companies who place their product Datasheets/SPCs in the NOAH Compendium. The Code is upheld by the NOAH Code of Practice Committee, which is Chaired by an independent practising barrister, has an independent secretary and includes representatives with expertise in farm animal production, companion animals and the veterinary profession.
The Committee consists of both industry and independent members. As an independent member you would be required to set aside 8 dates throughout the year, when Code of Practice hearings are scheduled to take place. At such hearings, committee members will be required to contribute to decisions on whether breaches of the Code of Practice have taken place. Independent members are paid an annual retainer plus a fee for the days that the committee meets.
Expressions of interest are now sought from applicants who are interested in helping to uphold the high standards of promotion of veterinary medicinal products, in particular:
- practising veterinary surgeons
- individuals who are currently livestock farmers
Applications should be submitted in the form of CV to d.murphy@noah.co.uk
The deadline for submission of applications is 22nd May 2018. More information on the NOAH Code of Practice can be accessed here – https://www.noah.co.uk/services/our-code-of-practice/
